Ibrahim El-chami

IoT Infrastructure Architect,

Ibrahim holds a PhD in mechatronics systems engineering from Simon Fraser University/ KU Leuven, with over 25 national and international scholarships and awards. 

With his expertise in creating novel sustainability-focused technology solutions in emerging markets and smart cities, Ibrahim helps critically evaluate companies’ technology feasibility, integration, and applicability into (current and potential) market segments, as well as novel IP and long term product development strategies 

Ibrahim has authored and formulated policies, frameworks, and guiding principles for AI, IoT, and emerging technologies in smart cities, specifically tailored for municipalities, provinces, and federal governments in Canada and elsewhere.

Jonathan Brown

Jonathan is an educator and mentor with over 30 years experience in co-designing curricula with teachers for both online and in-class delivery. His work on policy and program development and implementation with the Ontario Ministry of Education won several Ontario Public Service awards for innovation, collaboration and creativity. 

Jonathan is also a seasoned hacker with experience in networking, mentoring, organizing and participating in multiple challenge hackathons. He currently volunteers his time to facilitate experiential learning outside the classroom. He is interested in exploring how open data and digital resources support sustainable living at the local level.

Sameer Vasta, Moderator

Sameer Vasta is a public policy and public affairs professional with an academic background in cultural anthropology. He has worked on various projects in the areas of public sector transformation, digital government, open data, energy conservation, healthcare transformation, international development, and organizational change.

He is a founding member of the Ontario Digital Service and currently works in the public service in the area of people and talent. 

He passes his time reading his never-ending stack of library books, writing letters to penpals, and exploring the urban landscape on foot.
