Rachel Bloom is a recent graduate of McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. For her undergraduate thesis, she interviewed open data providers at 15 cities in Canada and U.S. about open data standards. Previously, she was a Senior Researcher on Geothink’s Open Data Standards Project, a large Canadian geospatial and open data research partnership. While at Geothink, she collaborated with the Center for Government Excellence at Johns Hopkins University to create an inventory and set of quality indicators for standards for open data. Currently, Rachel is the Project Lead for a GeoConnection’s project entitled “Open Smart Cities in Canada” at Open North, Canada’s leading open data non-profit.
