Mayor Matt Brown, City of London

Biography

Mayor Matt Brown was sworn in as our city’s 63rd Mayor on December 1, 2014 after four years of serving as London’s Ward 7 Councillor.  Before holding elected office, Matt studied Environmental Sciences and Geography at the University of Waterloo and then went on to earn a teaching degree.

He worked for several years in corporate sales in the private sector before joining the YMCA of Western Ontario as a member of the senior leadership team.

During his time as Ward 7 Councillor, Matt was a teacher for at risk youth – helping those who struggled outside of the classroom stay on track with their education.

Mayor Brown is Chair of the Mayors of Southwest Ontario and a member of the nation-wide Big City Mayor’s Caucus, both groups that highlight municipal issues to our partners in Toronto and Ottawa.
